This beautiful circular hike starts at Planina Blato, one of the most popular starting points for exploring the central part of Triglav National Park.

The trail first leads through forest to Planina pri Jezeru, a picturesque alpine pasture with a small lake and a traditional mountain huts. From here, the path continues toward Planina Dedno Polje and then to Planina Ovčarija, where you are rewarded with beautiful views of the surrounding peaks.
Above Ovčarija, the trail climbs toward the rocky area known as Štapce, one of the most scenic entrances to the famous Triglav Lakes Valley. After a short descent, you reach the mountain hut Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih, located in the heart of the valley.
The valley is famous for its chain of alpine lakes — seven in total — spread along the valley floor. Among the most recognizable are Dvojno jezero, Veliko jezero (also called Ledvica), and Črno jezero.

If you want to add a short but very rewarding detour, you can climb to Mala Tičarica from the pass at Štapce. This peak is one of the best viewpoints in the area. From the top you can see in to the Triglav Lakes Valley, the plateau of Komna, the impressive ridge of Lepo Špičje, and the peaks of the Vogel ridge, Plaski Vogel and so much more. From here, Dvojno jezero can be seen almost from a bird’s-eye perspective.
After enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the valley, the route continues back toward Planina Ovčarija. Instead of returning the same way, the trail turns toward Planina Viševnik, another scenic alpine pasture that offers a slightly different perspective of this part of the Julian Alps.

From Planina Viševnik you can also make a short 30-minute detour to the viewpoint Pršivec. The summit offers fantastic views of Lake Bohinj, the ski slopes of Vogel Ski Resort on the opposite side of the valley, the plateau of Komna, and even Triglav on clear days.
From there the trail descends again to Planina pri Jezeru and finally returns to the starting point at Planina Blato.
This hike is a perfect introduction to the alpine landscape of the Julian Alps, combining traditional mountain pastures, crystal-clear alpine lakes, and stunning high-mountain scenery — all without technically difficult sections.
