The Gorenjska region, together with the Soča Valley, is one of the richest areas in Slovenia when it comes to outdoor adventures and nature trips. Its location is also very convenient – the westernmost village, Rateče, is only about an hour’s drive from Ljubljana.
Most visitors heading to this part of Slovenia stop in Bled or Kranjska Gora, two well-known Alpine destinations that serve as perfect starting points for exploring the surrounding mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and natural attractions.

Kranjska Gora offers countless outdoor activities throughout the year. In this guide we will mostly focus on trips suitable for the warmer months, although some winter activities like sledding and cross-country skiing are also mentioned.
