This circular hike starts at Rudno Polje, a section of the peaceful Pokljuka plateau in the heart of the Julian Alps. Rudno Polje is well known for hosting World Cup biathlon events and is a winter paradise for cross-country skiers, while in summer it serves as a gateway to some of the most beautiful alpine hikes in Triglav National Park.

From the plateau, the trail gradually ascends toward the prominent peak of Viševnik, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Triglav, Tosc, and Veliki Draški vrh and Mali Draški vrh. Viševnik is especially renowned for its stunning views of Triglav and is also one of the most popular 2,000-meter peaks in Slovenia, attracting many hikers even in winter.

From the summit, in addition to the nearby peaks, hikers are treated to breathtaking views toward the highest mountains of the KSA (Kamnik-Savinja Alps) and the Karavanke range, as well as a beautiful panorama of the Gorenjska plain and the ridge of the Southern Bohinj Mountains. On a clear day, even the distant Krn can be seen. The summit is a perfect spot to pause and enjoy the expansive alpine landscape.

From Viševnik, the trail continues over Srenski Preval, a high mountain saddle that connects Viševnik and Mali Draški vrh, where the trail begins by crossing the path near the edge of the Kot valley towards Mrežice. From Mrežice, the trail then descends quite steeply to Lipanška planina, where you can refresh yourself at the Bledska koča hut. From here, hikers continue towards Planina Zajavornik, another picturesque alpine pasture where you can admire traditional wooden shepherd’s huts.

The final section gently ascends back to Rudno Polje, completing a circular route that combines high alpine terrain, serene pastures, and breathtaking panoramic views. This hike is ideal for a full-day adventure and offers a mix of moderate ascents, ridge walking, and the calm atmosphere of the Pokljuka plateau.
